If IDO cancels your ferry, first confirm the exact date, time and direction on your ticket, then ask the channel you booked through how to handle a refund or change. Check the status of any replacement sailing and your connections before buying another ticket. This guide covers practical steps for Marmara journeys; it does not determine your ticket’s refund amount or deadline.
1. Does the cancellation match your sailing?
Match the departure and arrival terminals, travel date and time on your ticket to the announcement. Your return journey or another departure that day is a separate sailing. Read the reported status on Sefer İptal and its source-check timestamp, then confirm through official IDO information. A missing search result or a high experimental risk estimate is not an operator cancellation. See the cancellation-checking guide for the full check.
2. Separate a cancelled sailing from cancelling your ticket
An operator cancelling a sailing and a passenger deciding not to travel on a sailing that still runs are different situations. Explain which has happened when contacting support. If you are reacting only to a weather forecast, check the conditions for voluntarily cancelling or changing your ticket before confirming that action.
3. Contact the channel you booked through
Use your booking confirmation to identify whether you bought through IDO’s website or app, a ticket counter, an agency or another seller. Have your PNR/booking reference, date, time, passenger details and any vehicle details ready. IDO’s official contact information lists 0850 222 44 36 and 444 44 36. For a ticket bought from another seller, ask that seller who will process the request. Keep your booking reference out of public comments.
4. What should you ask about a refund or change?
Refer to the cancellation notice and ask whether processing is automatic or requires a request, what amount will return to which payment method, when you must request a refund or change, and when processing should finish. For a change, ask about passenger and vehicle availability and any price difference. Keep the response and transaction reference. Conditions written for the Aegean islands should not be applied to a Marmara booking; confirm the terms for your own ticket.
5. Check the replacement journey from the beginning
Check the date, direction, departure terminal, arrival terminal and reported status again for any new sailing. Pendik and Yenikapı are different departure points. If travelling with a vehicle, verify that the new booking includes it. Contact the provider of any connecting bus, train, flight or accommodation booking separately about changes; do not assume automatic transfers or reimbursement of extra costs.
6. Keep track of the outcome
Keep the cancellation notice, ticket and correspondence with the seller. Recheck the day and time on a replacement ticket; if a refund is promised, follow it through the channel identified by the seller. Sefer İptal does not sell tickets or process refunds. Historical cancellation shares also cannot determine the outcome for today’s ticket; the archive methodology and limits explain their separate purpose.
Source check and scope
Official links were checked on 17 September 2026. This does not mean the sailing archive was refreshed. The complete current Marmara refund terms on IDO’s main website could not be verified in this review, so this guide does not promise a fixed deduction, refund period or free change. Confirm with IDO or your ticket seller before acting. Read sources and attribution.
